How to Convert AZW to ePub?

As we all know, books downloaded from Amazon Kindle store are .azw format. This format is developed by Amazon from the open source .mobi format. The two formats are basically the same except Amazon added digital rights management (DRM) to the .azw format. To read Kindle AZW books on iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, SONY Reader, and so on, you need to convert AZW to ePub. Here is how to:

Part 1: Remove DRM from AZW with Kindle DRM Removal

Step 1: Free download and install Kindle DRM Removal.

Tips: The Kindle DRM Removal only supports Kindle for PC 1.1.1 version.

Step 2: Run Kindle DRM Removal. And click "Browse" to open Kindle for PC.

Step 3: In Kindle for PC Home mode, double click the eBook which you wanna convert to ePub format. And in the reading mode, close Kindle for PC.

Step 4: Click "unDRM directory" to remove AZW DRM fast.
Tips: If a pop-up window tells you that it's not a DRM file. Go to Part 2 directly. If not, a pop-up window will tell you file decrypted successfully.

Part 2: How to Convert AZW to ePub

Step 1: Download the eBooks converter freeware: Calibre. Then install it.

Step 2: Start the program when installation is complete. When you're prompted as below, choose the device (such as "Apple") as your default reader.

Step 3: Once it's loaded, use the Add button to add the decrypted .mobi book to Calibre. It should then show up in the list of books.

Step 4: Click the "Convert" button to convert mobi to ePub.

Step 5: When the conversion options dialog appears, use the default settings and click OK.
