Discovr for iPad Helps you Find New Music
Posted on January 24th, 2011
Music discovery apps and services are all over the Web, all designed to help you find new artists and bands that are related to or sound similar to the ones that you enjoy. Now one of those services has landed on the iPad. (Related: Free Download Music to iPad)
Discovr for iPad is a new iPad app that helps you navigate the connections between bands and artists through illustrated, interactive maps. You can easily tell at a glance which bands are related to one another, either because they have a similar sound, share band members, or are on the same label.
Discovr for iPad also allows you to read artist bios, watch music videos, even see blogs that are writing about the artist's music and reviews of their most recent albums. The app looks a lot like MusicMesh or TuneGlue, both Web apps that let you do similar things, but Discovr brings the same experience to the iPad's touch-sensitive display, allowing you to tap on new bands to bring them to center and see other artists similar to them.

Discovr for iPad also allows you to share bands that you've discovered via Facebook or Twitter, and can even import artists from your music library's "most played" lists into the app's favorites list, giving you a great starting point if you're having a hard time coming up with a band to start with.
