How to Control PC with iPad?

Whether you know it or not, windows already has a built-in system for remote control. It's called Windows Remote Desktop and it's been in every version of windows since XP. By default, this feature is turned off, so to remote control PC with iPad, we have to first get it set up to accept remote connections. Following is the detailed procedures to help you control PC with iPad.

To start out, on Windows PC, Click Start > Control Panel > Performance > Maintenance. Then click System.

Click the Remote tab, select the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer check box, and then click OK.

Next, make sure you have Windows Firewall set up to allow exceptions. In the Control Panel, click Security Center. Under Manage security settings for, click Windows Firewall.

Next, you'll want to Make sure the Don't allow exceptions check box is not selected.

Now Click the Exceptions tab, and verify that the Remote Desktop check box is selected.

Click OK, and then close the Windows Security Center window. Now that your Windows computer is set up for remote access, you'll need to set up a connection in the WinAdmin app on your iPad. First you'll need the IP address of your computer, to do this, visit www.whatismyip.com in your browser and write down your IP. Most people's IP address will change pretty regularly, so if you plan on using this setup long term, I would use a service like Dyndns.com, which lets you register your own domain and constantly updates it with your IP address, this allows you to have one address that always points to your machine. For now though, an IP address will do.

Launch Winadmin on your iPad and tap New. In the screen that follows, give your server a title, under hostname put your IP address, under username put the username of the account you selected earlier. Then password. Leave the rest the same. Tap the server to connect.

Once you've connected, you'll see the login screen, enter your credentials to connect.

That's it, you're now able to connect to your Windows computer at home wherever you are!
